About Arusha, Tanzania
Tanzania is located in East Africa and is known for its beautiful nature and wildlife. The Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro, and the Ngorongoro Crater are all located here. 25% of Tanzanian land is dedicated to national parks. With 158 local languages commonly spoken within its borders, Tanzania is one of the most culturally diverse countries within Africa.
Arusha is located in the northern part of the country, and is home to about 2 million people. It is an international diplomatic hub, containing many UN offices and hosting the East African community. While Arusha itself is a bustling city, the rural areas surrounding it still face significant health and social issues. Adequate sanitation and drinking water remain inaccessible to these areas. Poverty and a lack of education is linked to widespread communicable diseases found within these areas. While health education outreach programs have made significant changes, much of the population still suffers from these preventable issues.
